I am so sorry to hear about Sandy's passing. I think of her and see that beautiful smile and hearty laugh. Sandy was my best friend growing up in Gowanda. When my father died I was at her house more than mine. I am sure I wore out my welcome with her parents, but they were always very generous. I have so many memories of Sandy's humor, intelligence, good spirit. As adults we went to ball games to watch our husband's play ball, softball and basketball. We always had a lot of laughs. She was a great mother to her 3 beautiful girls. It has been years since we saw each other but I will always think of her as my childhood best friend.
There is nothing more difficult than loosing a loved one, I hope Wayne and the girls will find peace in the beautiful life she lived filled with love and always giving care to others. With love and sadness, Sally Elder
Sandy was one of my best friends K through high school, and "through thick and thin". I have memories of Girl Scouts, Friday night roller skating at the VFW rink and Versailles Rink in the Community Hall. Our parents took turns going and picking us up. We took ballet lessons with the Nitches School of Dance, and tried out for cheerleading. With our other friends, you know who you are, we had fun. Gowanda was a great place for our young lives to grow up.
We all went our separate ways after high school but reconnected a few years ago when Sandy and Wayne came back from Australia and resided in California. I last saw Sandy when we spent our 78th Feb. Birthdays together. I have nothing but praise and admiration for the care Wayne and their daughters, Darcy and Michelle, provided to Sandy at home these last few years. Rest in peace, Sandy.
